Shane was born in London, and (according to the IMDb) completed law school at Trinity College in Dublin at the top of his class. He was nominated for London Theatre critics Best Newcomer in '71; in 1983 he emigrated to Australia, where he currently lives with his partner Wendy, in Sydney.
In addition to acting, Shane has published four novels
(Bite of the Lotus,
The Chasen Catalyst,
Hitkids, and
The Webber Agenda).
