Biographical Notes & Trivia

Birthday: 26 September 1942 (Los Angeles, CA, USA)

Height: 6' 2" (1.88 m)

Kent began working in his father's gas station at age 10 years, earning 50 cents per hour. Throughout high school, he worked at an airport. Planning to become a physical education instructor and football coach, Kent transferred from Citrus Junior College to the University of Southern California in 1961. While there he became good friends with Ricky Nelson, leading to over 40 guest spots on 'The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet' as one of Rick's fraternity brothers. For the next four years, he worked as an extra, bit player, and stuntman.

In 1962, Kent married his highschool sweetheart, Cynthia; the couple has three children (Kristen, Megan, Michael). In 1965, he signed a contract with Universal, and two years later got his big break when Jack Webb picked him to co-star on 'Adam-12.'

Elected to the Screen Actors Guild's National Board of Directors in 1972, Kent served on the Board for 11 years. He served two terms as First Vice President, as well as chairing the Children's Committee, the Publications Committee, the Agents Relations Committee, and representing the American acting community to the Federation Internationale des Acteurs (FIA). He won the Screen Actors Guild's Ralph Morgan Award in 1999, and in 2001 was elected as SAG's Treasurer.

In addition to acting and doing voiceovers for commercials and documentaries, Kent is a fan of auto racing, especially the Indianapolis Speedway.
