Biographical Notes & Trivia

Birthday: 22 June 1932 (Bexley, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia)

June's career spanned more than four decades, beginning on radio in 1952. In 1956, she made a guest appearance on the first ever television transmission for Australian Channel 7. She went on to star on both stage and screen. She was married to the late veteran Australian actor John Mellion, and the couple had one son, John Mellion Jr.

She received Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977, and the following year was the subject of 'This Is Your Life'. In 1982, she was recognized as a Member of the Order of Australia.

"June Salter - A Legend", her first one-woman show, was presented in 1993 as a musical presentation of her life and career. Her autobiography, "A Pinch of Salt", was published by Angus & Robertson in 1995.

June passed away 15 September 2001, of cancer, in Sydney, Australia. She was 69.
