Tupu, Lani John
Biographical Notes & TriviaBirthday: 04 November 1964 (Wellington, New Zealand) Educated at Rongotal College (Wellington, New Zealand), Wellington Teachers Training College, and New Zealand Drama School (with an emphasis on the classical training), Lani has been active in stage production as a director as well as an actor. Lani was a founding member of the former Walkers And Talkers theatre group; as he describes it, "The name "Walkers and Talkers" came out of a late-night drinking session where a bunch four actors decided that our profession had to do with walking, talking and trying not to bump into the furniture." His awards include Best Dramatic Performance (1993) from the New Zealand Film Television Awards, and the Best Actor award for "Talk of the Town" (a production he also directed), at the DreamMaker Festival in Ontario, Canada. He loves playing bad guy roles, as he "finds them liberating". He continues to coach actors and offer screen acting workshops. Lani is a husband and father; the family also includes a Burmese Blue cat named Angel. Other Credits
