Birthday: 13 October 1948 (Hadleigh, Suffolk, England, UK)

William migrated to Australia in 1976.

Cast note (excerpt) from 1997-1999 Australasian tour of Les Miserables:

After training at London's Central School of Speech and Drama, William worked in England as an actor and theatre director before coming to Australia to take up the post of lecturer in Movement at the Drama School of the Victorian College of the Arts in 1976. He has appeared with all of the major theatre companies in Australia [...].

His many television appearances include [...] Women of the Sun, for which he received the Penguin Award for Best Actor. He has directed productions for Playbox, VCA and West Theatre Company and has worked as a fight arranger for STC, MTC, The Australian Opera, VSO, STCSA, VCA and NIDA and runs workshops on Movement for Actors.

In 1990, William was awarded the MO Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Thenardier in Les Miserables.
